If you want to learn how to make your own cosmetics, you'll need a few essentials in your cupboard. Sometimes, faced with all the DIY available in the field of home cosmetics, we don't know where to turn. To help you, here's a list of essential ingredients for making your own cosmetics:

Vegetables oils

A staple of home cosmetics, it's essential to have them in your cupboard. They have many beneficial properties for the skin: nourishing, protective, soothing, regenerating, etc. When choosing an oil, opt for those that are unrefined and organic, so you can take full advantage of their benefits.

Vegetable butters:

Like vegetable oils, butters are rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants. They have numerous virtues for skin and hair, making them a must-have in home cosmetics.

Floral waters (or hydrolats):

Hydrosols are produced by distilling plants. During the production of essential oils, the oil is harvested on one side, while the water, still loaded with active ingredients, makes up the hydrolat or floral water. Hydrolats are very interesting for their virtues and scent, and can be used by the whole family. Please note: when making your choice, opt for a natural, pure hydrolat or floral water, with no preservatives, alcohol or added water!

Conservatives:

Preservatives prevent the proliferation of bacteria that could render your product unusable. Vitamin E is ideal for products based on vegetable oils or butters, as it prevents them from going rancid. There's also Cosgard extract, an antibacterial and antifungal preservative suitable for water- or hydrolate-based solutions.

Clays:

There are different types of clay, each adapted to a particular skin type:

  • Green claythe best-known and most widely used, is purifying and perfectly suited to oily or blemished skin. However, it can be too aggressive for sensitive skin.
  • White clay (or kaolin) is perfect for facial care, as it eliminates toxins and dead cells. It also helps to regenerate the skin and prevent aging. This clay is suitable for all skin types.
  • Red clay is used to combat circulation problems and purify the scalp. It is also suitable for all skin types.
  • Pink clay, a mixture of red and white clay, has purifying, antioxidant and regenerating properties, ideal for sensitive and dehydrated skin.
  • Yellow clay is rich in water and therefore perfect for dry skin, as well as for those prone to acne.

Beeswax (or candelilla):
